Darija for kids: learning Moroccan Arabic through play
Does your child hear Darija at home but not speak it (yet)? Or would you like them to understand their grandparents? Dariyati teaches children Darija in short, playful lessons, with pronunciation by real native speakers instead of computer voices.
Speelplein for the youngest, the Learning Path for older kids
Children up to about 8 get the Speelplein (playground): they learn through pictures and games, no reading required. From about 8, the app switches to the Learning Path, with a daily structure, grammar explanations and the Arabic script.
That way a young child isn’t overloaded, and an older child doesn’t get bored.
What a lesson looks like
- New words on flashcards, with audio by a native speaker.
- A short quiz to check that it sticks.
- A game to review, with up to 3 stars per lesson.
- About 15 minutes a day: short enough for after school or before bed.
Motivating, also after the first week
Children earn stars and coins and build a streak. Parents set their own real rewards (an outing, a treat, extra play time) that a child can earn with those coins. The mascots Rayan and Nour guide your child through every lesson.
One family subscription, a profile for every child
Within one account you create a profile for each child, and for yourself if you want to learn along. Everyone learns at their own pace and level. The parent area is protected with a PIN. Your child’s practice recordings are never stored.
See what each level covers and what the subscription costs. You can try Dariyati free for 14 days.
Topics children recognise
Your child starts with greetings, colors, numbers and animals, and moves on to family, food and drink, school and toys. More tips for home in learning Darija with your kids.
Questions parents ask
From what age can my child start with Dariyati?
The lessons start at age 5 to 6. Up to about 8, your child learns in the Speelplein with pictures and games, no reading required. After that the app switches to the Learning Path.
Do I need to speak Darija myself to help my child?
No. All words and sentences are recorded by native speakers, so your child always hears the right pronunciation. You can add a profile for yourself and learn together.
Can brothers and sisters all join?
Yes. One family subscription covers the whole family, with a separate profile for every child and adult.
Is there personal coaching too?
For children from 12 there are online private lessons with a teacher, on top of the app.
Want to actually learn to say these words?
Dariyati teaches you Darija step by step, with the Darija always recorded by native speakers. No machine translation.
